The 9-1-1 fandom is on fire

I became a fan of 9-1-1 in 2021 when I saw a preview of 9-1-1 on TV and I instantly thought this show looks so appealing, after watching my first episode I became hooked on the show. After watching I told my family that they have watch this new show I found with me because it is so good, and after they watched the next episode with me they got hooked too. As new episodes came out each week it became a tradition in our household that every Thursday night we would sit down as a family to watch the newest episode. I thought for many years that we were very much integrated in the fandom of 9-1-1 but with the completion of my fandom research project I have learned that there are many people that take the fandom to a whole different level and it makes me appreciate the people that are apart of the fandom so much more.

The Cast of 9-1-1
The first thing I was surprised to learn about in 9-1-1 fandom is that they are very vocal and do extravagant things when they don't like what happens in the show. Many fans took to social media to voice there opinions, and once their opinion is in the media I learned most fans if they agree with the opinion will support and make the post gain even more attention. For example when Bobby was killed off the show fans have "taken it upon themselves to sink money into a billboard space in times square where the legacy of Bobby can be seen by all"(DeVore, 2025). In addition to that a fellow fan named Ari took to the site change.org and created a petition for fellow fans to sign to hopefully convince ABC to bring Bobby back on the show, as of may 2026 the petition has 14,834 signatures from fellow fans that want Bobby back on the show (C, 2025). Considering the amount of money and time fans have put into getting a billboard and making/signing a petition all to try and get their favorite character back on the show, signifies that all of us 9-1-1 fans can work together to hopefully make a change and spread the word.

The second surprising thing I learned about the 9-1-1 fandom is how obsessed us fans have become with Buck and Eddie becoming a couple. We all know and love Buddie and how in every episode 9-1-1 they tease us with more shots of Eddie and Buck "flirting" with each other. As the show has given us more of these shots us fans have gone to social media to talk about how much we love them for example TV fanatic highlighted that "the relationship between Buck and Eddie reveals that over 34,000 stories have been written about Buddie"(Whitmire, 2024).  Along side writing stories fans have indulged in creating videos on Titkok. Many fellow fans creators like uhbucky and ilexplainlater have created fan edits of Buddie and emphasized all the times that they are acting like they want to be together/like each other (uhbucky & ilexplainlater, 2025, 2026). All of the stories and videos show just how much all of us fans want Buck and Eddie to be an actual couple, and with continued support, videos, and stories the fandom will grow bigger.

The last surprising thing that I found out about the fandom is there loving support and willingness to listen to one another. For example when fans travel to Los Angeles to visit filming locations of the show, many fans don't know exact places to go because they don't live in Los Angeles, so fellow fans that live in Los Angeles like RemarkableLime19 on reddit gave many options of places people can go to see filming spots in the show (RemarkableLime19, 2025). In addition to fans being helpful showing fans places they can go to see filming spots fans also support each other by listening to them. For example a fellow fan named Rachel started a podcast called Dispatch: A 9-1-1 podcast where each week she interviews a fellow fan about 9-1-1 events (Rachel, 2022 - 2023). 9-1-1 fans supporting each other creates a positive atmosphere for other fans to become more involved in and be able to voice their opinions confidently.
