Do You Bleed Green?- Max McCloskey

This Blog entry is aimed at the marginal Philadelphia Eagles fan. You know who you are! You only tune in to watch the Eagles in playoff games and a Superbowl if they are in it. Your total Eagles swag probably consist of 1 t-shirt or sweatshirt, or if at all. I'm here to persuade to you participate more fully in Eagles mania.  I've researched fandom in detail and I'm going to explain to you its benefits.

One of the things I learned while researching about Eagles fans is how this community is built on family identity. As an Eagles fan, I always knew we are loyal fans, but I didn't realize how many people grow up with the team as part of their household culture. Kids learn the chants before they can spell, grandparents tell old Vet stories like family legends, and whole families plan their fall weekends around the Eagles game day schedule without even thinking about it. Realizing how many fans see the Eagles as a generational bond made me appreciate the fandom on a whole new level. It is not just about football; it's about belonging into something bigger.

Another thing that shocked me is how much Eagles fans physically show their emotions. It's not quiet support, its full-body and volume commitment. Fans scream at the TV like the players can hear them. They pace around the room during close games. They high-five strangers in bars like they've know each other for years. We share these bonds and moments together as a family. You too can be part of this family.

The last thing that surprised me was how many traditions fans actively keep take part in. Tailgating isn't just showing up early, it's an entire culture of grilling, music, games, and meeting up with the same people every week. Singing "Fly, Eagles Fly" isn't just a chant, it's a moment where thousands of fans sync up like one giant voice. After big wins Eagles fans don't just celebrate, we take over Broad Street like it's a city-wide block party. These aren't passive traditions; they are things fans do to keep the energy alive. Learning about all these Eagle fan behaviors made me realize that being part of this fandom means participating, not just watching.

Doesn't this sound all like fun? With a little effort and some money, you too can become part of the Philadelphia Eagles fan nation. Buy some Eagles merch, attend a tailgate, or host a game day viewing party. Soon, you too will bleed green! You will always have something to talk about with other Eagles fans whether it's a quality of play, coaching, trades, or how much you hate the opposing teams. E-A-G-L-E-S... EAGLES!!
